Pismo
Beach, CA
|
| Pismo Beach is located
mid-way between San Francisco and Los Angeles. With some 23 miles of
wide sandy beach, one of the area's truly unique features is the Pismo
Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area, California's only drivable beach.
Whether exploring
coves, caves and tide pools, or driving along the scenic cliff top drive,
you are bound to observe sea otters and sea lions at play in the protected
coves and kelp beds. Fishing from the area piers generally nets some
good catches of bottom fish such as red snapper, lingcod, etc. Charter
fishing boats are available out of Port San Luis near Avila Beach. Hot
Mineral Springs are also available at Avila Beach.
Freshwater fans
have only to drive up to Lopez Lake which offers a marina, camping,
fishing, water skiing, sailing, and wind surfing. Cypress Ridge Golf
Course, a Peter Jacobsen Signature Course, is open to the public.
There is also the
very popular oceanfront Pismo State Beach 9-hole course, Le Sage Riviera.
In one hour (55 miles north) you can reach Hearst Castle, the platial
home of the late publisher William Randolph Hearst. Or, how about a
winery tour? San Luis Obispo County is fast becoming a popular and renowned
region for its many wineries. Come visit us any time of the year. We
may be a small town, but we've got a BIG beach!
